Spread love this Valentine's Day with this heart-shaped brownies that are decadent and incredibly chocolatey.
½ cup melted vegan butter - hot
1½ cup granulated cane sugar
⅓ cup non-dairy milk
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup cocoa powder
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup vegan chocolate chips
1 cup vegan chocolate chips (for topping)
Preheat the oven to 350°F/ 176°C.
In a large bowl, whisk together the hot melted butter, sugar. Whisk in the plant based milk & vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, & salt.
Mix wet and dry mixture gradually until thoroughly mixed but be careful not to overmix the batter.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
If you have a heart shaped cupcake pan, pour in the batter 3/4 of the way full and bake for 25-30 minutes. Alternatively, pour in a greased regular brownie pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes.
Push out the heart shaped brownies and place in a tray. If using a regular brownie pan, place in the fridge for 1-2 hours - this will make it easier to cut hearts out of the brownie. Coat your heart-shaped cookie cutter with oil/vegan butter and press onto the brownie. Repeat until you've made a maximum amount of hearts. Set aside in the fridge to cool.
For the chocolate coating, melt chocolate in the microwave oven for 1-2 minutes. Stopping every 30 seconds to stir. Once melted, set aside for 5 minutes.
Get your brownies from the fridge and pour about 1-2 tbsp of melted chocolate on top and smooth it out using a spoon. Top with sprinkles. Repeat until all your brownies are coated.
Serve in your favourite Coconut Bowls and enjoy with your loved ones!
